World Bank mission visits islands with ongoing activities in the scope of the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project

A World Bank Mission is taking place on the islands of Santo Antão, São Vicente and Santiago from March 6 to 14, to monitor progress and short-term planning of ongoing activities under the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project.

 

The team started on March 6, with visits to the islands of Santo Antão and São Vicente, to learn about the status of implementation of activities related to the project, namely, in S.V: the fish market, turtle conservation center and the museum, but also in SA: the Trails, the Canal Point, Seven Suns Seven Moons, and the Tarrafal of Monte Trigo.

 

On the occasion, they took the opportunity to visit several institutions linked to the Ministry of the Sea in São Vicente, in order to learn about the investment being made in the blue economy and to get a dimension of its importance.

 

Among the agenda items, is the meeting with the Minister of the Sea, Abraão Vicente, which took place this Thursday afternoon, (9), and was attended by the World Bank Representative in Cape Verde, Eneida Fernandes and the Coordinator of UGPE, Nuno Gomes, to analyze the initiatives in progress and discuss opportunities for new activities and potential funding from the WB.

 

The mission has planned for the coming days several visits and meetings on the island of Santiago, in order to monitor the progress of ongoing project activities.
