WB Director of Procurement for West and Central Africa Region conducts two-day visit to Cabo Verde

The World Bank Director of Procurement for West and Central Africa Region, Kofi Awanyo, accompanied by the Head of Procurement Team Abduljabbar Hasan Al- Qathab, and the Procurement Coordinator of CMU of Senegal Laurent Mehdi Brito, started today, May 29th, a two day visit to Cape Verde in order to know in loco how the public procurement and contracting system works.

On Monday, the first day of the visit, the director met with the entities involved in public procurement, namely ARAP – Public Procurement Regulatory Authority of Cape Verde, with the Ministry of Finance and Business Development: through UGPE – Special Projects Management Unit, UTIC – Technologies, Innovation and Communication Unit and DGP – Directorate General of Patrimony and Public Procurement, to discuss issues such as reforms in the public procurement system, electronic purchases, professionalization of the sector and the ongoing evaluation of the System – MAPS II.

On the occasion, UTIC, in the person of its Coordinator Dedier Lima, shared a presentation on the technological solutions linked to public procurement, more specifically the e-compras digital platform.
