The act took place this Monday, February 27, at the public presentation of the preliminary results of the 1st and 2nd phases of the 1st General Census of Sport household survey and survey of sports infrastructures, and was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Youth and Sport, Carlos do Canto Monteiro.
Contemplated in the Project for the Harmonization of Statistical Data in West Africa, implemented by the Special Projects Management Unit, this Census made it possible to find out from households the demand and consumption of sports, the level of satisfaction with sports infrastructures, the level of access to sports infrastructures, the costs of sports activities, the reasons for not practicing physical exercise/sports, the impacts of Covid 19 on the practice of sports by individuals, and to outline the socio-demographic and economic profile of physical exercise/sports practitioners.
On the other hand, the data made it possible to know the number of sports infrastructures by type, municipality and property, the number of Sports Facilities per 10,000 Inhabitants, the Useful Sports Area (ADU) and assess the quality of sports infrastructures in the country.
It should be noted that during the 1st General Census of Sport-2022, 6,740 households, all sports facilities, sports organizations (federations, associations, clubs and sports initiation schools) and institutions considered by law as a subsystem of national sport were surveyed.
With this collection of information on the national sports system, the country will be equipped with credible and updated information, as a support in decision making and definition of assertive policies for the sector.
