World Bank visits beneficiary institutions of the Renewable Energy and Public Service Efficiency Improvement Project

The World Bank team, on its fourth day of the mission, conducted technical visits to two institutions that are beneficiaries of the Renewable Energy and Public Services Efficiency Improvement Project, which work directly in the implementation of activities associated with the project. These visits, which took place on Thursday, March 2nd, included the Multi-sector Economic Regulatory Agency – ARME and the Center for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance – CERMI.

 

The visit began with a working meeting with ARME, where it was discussed the status of ongoing activities under the project, specifically two technical assistance, a consultancy that will allow the development of a road map for implementation of the regulation of quality of service and another for the implementation of the tariff methodology, and also to support the privatization of Electra in the adaptation of the necessary regulation.

 

The delegation was welcomed at the CERMI by the management, for a visit that had as main objective to know the facilities and the operation of the Center, on the other hand, to learn about the implementation process of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the UGPE in the incubation program of the Resilient and Efficient Electricity Services in Public Health Services, as well as to know the CERMI’s Portfolio of projects in order to analyze the possibilities of financing some additional activities.

 

On occasion, the delegation also took the opportunity to visit the National Dispatch Center – SCADA, as this is an infrastructure linked to the energy sector. Recall that the SCADA is framed within the Project for the Development of Electricity Transmission and Distribution Systems in six islands entitled “6 Islands Project”, and was funded by JICA.

 

The WB team was accompanied by representatives from the Special Projects Management Unit, namely the Renewable Energy and Public Services Efficiency Improvement Project Manager, Daniel Santos, and the Electromechanical Engineer, Izauda Monteiro do Canto.
