National Workshop on the Unified Social Registry

This meeting, held as part of the implementation of the Human Capital project, is promoted by the Ministry of Family, Inclusion and Development and will take place on April 20 and 21 in Cidade da Praia.

Under the slogan, “The consolidation of the Single Social Registry in the management of social protection measures”, the event was chaired by the Ministry of Family, Inclusion and Development, Fernando Elísio Freire.

During the meeting the CSU coordinators will discuss issues such as technical and operational conditions for the annual update of the socio-economic information of households receiving social benefits (especially RSI); Quality of the CSU data: results of the automatic control and data consistency control and the needs for capacity building; Indicator Framework and its usefulness in the follow-up of policy measures; Setting up the Complaints and Grievances Management Mechanism to redress people who feel aggrieved and to raise public confidence regarding the transparency and effectiveness of the CSU; and the institutional articulation and feedback as a tool for the production of indicators.

This workshop brings together the 22 Local Coordinators of the UCC, in addition to all sectors that use the UCC to identify their potential beneficiaries, and will analyze the challenges of the UCC in the management process of social policies in Cape Verde; contribute to improving the quality of the UCC, through control and participation mechanisms, and establish procedures for articulation between the UCC and the sectors that implement social programs.

It should be noted that the Single Social Registry is a tool for identification, registration, operationalization of information and socioeconomic classification of individuals and their households, primarily in situations of poverty and vulnerability.
