UGPE promotes capacity building training on Gender-based Violence, Harassment, Abuse and Sexual Exploitation

The Special Projects Management Unit promoted this Tuesday, July 12, 2022, a training on GBV, Sexual Harassment, Abuse and Sexual Exploitation directed to beneficiaries of the Access to Finance Project for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.

This training is part of the Action Plan for the Prevention and Response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (EAS) and Sexual Harassment, within the framework of the Project for Access to Financing for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, and aims to raise awareness and strengthen the capabilities of the project’s partner financial institutions regarding environmental, social, and health and safety (NASSS) standards, occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements and preventing/responding to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) as well as Violence Against Children (VCC).

The aforementioned training action provided by ICIEG consisted of three modules, namely:

  • Module 1 – Gender Equality – Concept and sex/gender difference – Social roles and gender stereotypes – Concepts of equality culture – Gender identity – Communication, inclusive and sexist language;
  • Module 2 – Gender-Based Violence – Gender and power relations – Power and GBV – Cycle of GBV and myths about GBV;
  • Module 3 – GBV Law and Sexual Crimes – Definition and purpose of GBV – Types of GBV – Sexual crimes Evaluation of the training and signing of the code of conduct.

It should be noted that UGPE has recently developed an Environmental and Social Management Framework and an Environmental and Social Management System that will allow the evaluation, management, and monitoring of risks and social and environmental impacts associated with each phase of the project.
