UGPE and Escola do Mar sign Memorandum of Understanding as part of the implementation of the course on Offboard Engine Maintenance and Repair

The Special Projects Management Unit, represented in this act by its Coordinator, Nuno Gomes and the manager of the Capital Project, Clarisse Silva, and the Escola do Mar, represented by the Chairman of the Board, Ivan Bettencourt signed today, February 23rd, a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the course of Maintenance and Repair of Offboard Engines, framed within subcomponent 2.2 – Increased offer of quality vocational training courses in the areas of Tourism and Blue Economy, of the Human Capital Project.

 

 

This memorandum aims to agree on the responsibilities of the signing parties for the implementation of the course on Maintenance and Repair of Outboard Engines, on the islands of São Vicente, São Nicolau and Santiago, through EMAR’s execution of all procedures for the acquisition of goods and services that the project is covered by. And contemplates the realization of 3 editions of the course, one on each island, with a duration of 210 hours, thus covering about 60 trainees.

 

 

Aligned with the specific needs in the areas of tourism and blue economy, two of the main accelerators identified by the Government of Cape Verde in the scope of the project’s development, it is intended to increase the access of young people to training opportunities in these three islands with potential in these areas.

 

 

EMAR will be responsible for the realization of the course editions and ensure all related tasks. On the other hand, it will be UGPE’s responsibility to ensure the necessary funding for the implementation of the courses as well as the environmental and social safeguard activities and also ensure all the administrative, financial and technical responsibilities, as the main execution agency of the Human Capital Project.
