The tutelage of the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) was transferred to the Ministry of Finance, in compliance with the Council of Ministers resolution nº 81/2017 of 2017 of 28 July.
Before, UGPE was under the tutelage of the Ministry of Economy and Employment, and yesterday, August 31, 2017, it was officially transferred, with the delivery note, signed by the current Coordinator of the Project Coordination Unit, Eng .Nuno Miguel Gomes.
With this change in tutelage, the Government intends to centralize, from a financial point of view, all project management in the Ministry of Finance. In the meantime, technical coordination will have to be shared with the respective ministers. But everything that has to do with new disbursements and relations with funders will be carried out under the Ministry of Finance.
“What we want is greater articulation with the Ministry, with the Plan, with the follow-up of disbursements, but ensuring all the technical part so that things work well, so that we can develop the projects well, have the disbursements on time, having all the information shared with the entire system and having a good team to manage the projects, both in terms of financing and technical aspects”, said the Minister of Finance, Olavo Correia.
Basically, this change of guardianship takes place, but everything else remains the same. “There will be no fundamental changes, what we want is to improve, deepen, build an effective team, with the various skills and abilities, capable of mutually compensating and working better, more efficiently and faster so that projects are executed on time right and with the required quality”, guarantees Olavo Correia.
