African Development Bank approves Budget Assistance of 20 million euros for Cabo Verde

The African Development Bank (ADB) approved, this week, a Budget Assistance package of 20 million euros to Cape Verde.

This contribution aims to invest in the E-Governance and Public Administration Modernization Program, with a view to improve digital efficiency for quality in the provision of public services, modernize the Administration, focus on transparency, and increase private sector investment.

With regard to Electronic Governance, with the pandemic, the blockages suffered by the country in 2020, as well as social distancing measures, accelerated the need for greater administrative digitalization and, in particular, the expansion administrative services offer.

On the other hand, supporting the country’s Digital Agenda is an opportunity to increase transparency, as highlighted in pillar III of SEGA – Strategy for Economic Governance in Africa.

The restrictive measures imposed by COVID-19 have shed light on the working conditions of civil servants and the need to better structure the public service to infuse more equity (with a focus on gender equality) and motivation.
