Prime Minister visits houses rehabilitated under the Habitat Regeneration Program

The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, accompanied by the Minister for Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Housing, Eunice Silva, visited the houses rehabilitated as part of the pilot in Calabaceira and Safende, in the city of Praia, on Monday (18), in order to find out about the progress of the work.

With around 46 houses rehabilitated, the continuation of the housing rehabilitation works is planned for 2024, with interventions in 9 neighborhoods.

This is an investment by the Government of Cape Verde, with funding from the World Bank through the Human Capital Project, worth 5.7 million dollars for the rehabilitation of dilapidated housing, benefiting 3,525 people in poor and vulnerable households in 22 neighborhoods in the municipality of Praia, selected through the Single Social Registry.

The Special Projects Management Unit was represented by Coordinator Nuno Gomes, Human Capital Project Manager Clarisse Silva and Civil Engineer Carlos Pinheiro.

It should be noted that the #HumanCapitalProject, through subcomponent 3.3 (Strengthening poor and vulnerable families’ access to basic services and better living conditions) supports poor and vulnerable families in the Praia municipality’s neighborhoods’ access to basic services and better living conditions through housing rehabilitation, improved sanitation conditions and access to water and energy.
