Stocktaking meeting highlights progress of the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project

On Thursday, November 30, the members of the Steering Committee met to (i) analyze in detail the activities carried out during the last 17 months of implementation of the Resilient Tourism and Development of the Blue Economy Project, and (ii) discuss and approve the Project’s Activity Plan for 2024.

 

The meeting, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Olavo Correia, and the Minister of Tourism and Transport, Dr. Carlos Santos, focused on assessing the project’s current performance and defining future strategies. Major works and strategic initiatives aimed at boosting the country’s tourism sector were highlighted.

 

The two essential components of the project highlighted were also addressed: the development of integrated and resilient tourism and blue economy infrastructures, and improving the inclusive and sustainable management of tourism in the blue economy.

 

The meeting focused on evaluating the project’s current performance and defining future strategies. The event highlighted major works and initiatives with implications for other economic activities, reinforcing the country’s goal of creating a comprehensive tourism ecosystem.

 

Working on several islands with great tourism potential, the project aims for continuous improvements in the area of tourism, covering destinations such as Sal, Santo Antão, Santiago and São Vicente.

 

The Resilient Tourism and Development of the Blue Economy Project aims to strengthen diversity and resilience in the tourism offer, while also seeking to increase the participation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the value chains associated with tourism in specific destinations.
