The President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Business Development, Olavo Correia, visited on the morning of Thursday, September 8, the works of the Technology Park in Praia.
The project is financed by the African Development Bank and by the Cabo Verde state, budgeted at 35.99 million euros, which intends to transform the archipelago into a technological ‘hub’ in Africa.
The Technology Park comprises business, incubation, training and certification centers, a civic center/conference and Data Centers and is being implemented on two Cabo Verdean islands, namely Santiago, in Praia, and Mindelo in São Vicente.
The Special Projects Management Unit was represented on this visit by its Coordinator, Nuno Gomes.
The aforementioned guided tour of the building was led by the Technological Park project manager, Eng. Carlos Delgado, who briefly described the future dynamics of that infrastructure, which aims to boost the ICT cluster, positioning Cabo Verde as an international center for service provision and as a Gateway to Africa for international companies of reference in the sector.
The President of the ADB is in Cabo Verde for a three-day visit, which began with a trip to the island of Maio, where he participated in the inauguration ceremony of the requalification and expansion of the island’s Port in Porto Inglês.
