On the morning of Tuesday the 12th, in Praia, the National Institute of Statistics in partnership with the Special Projects Management Unit held a socialization workshop for the MasterData Project. This activity is integrated in the Project for Harmonization and Improvement of Statistics in West Africa, and aims to make institutions aware of the importance of the MasterData project for the country regarding the production of official statistics, as well as the role that each of these institutions have in this project.
The MasterData project will allow the connection and storage of data from different administrative sources in a single data repository, thus providing SEN with a very powerful tool in the provision of microdata for analysis, modeling and production of indicators.
Considering that one of the major challenges of the National Statistical System (NSS) is the use of administrative data in the production of official statistics, it will be possible to ensure speedy, quality production.
However, for the project to work, it will be essential to have the involvement of all the institutions / organizations that own the administrative records selected in this first phase of the project, remembering that the project in its second phase will encompass all existing data sources in the country.
The action had the participation of the main entities framed in this first phase of the project, namely, the National Identification Registry (RNI), the Directorate of Emigration and Borders (DEF), the Ministry of Finance (MF), the Operational Nucleus for the Information Society (NOSI), the Ministry of Education and the National Center for Social Services.
