Technical Committee of the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project assesses progress and future preparations

The Technical Committee of the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project met this morning to analyze the implementation of the project and outline future guidelines, with a focus on drawing up the Activity Plan for 2024.

However, the highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the current status of the implementation of the 2023 Activity Plan. The main actions carried out to date were highlighted, especially with regard to building infrastructure and carrying out activities aimed at the tourism and blue economy sectors.

Also on the agenda was the definition of priorities for the implementation of the second Additional Financing package, which will be submitted to the World Bank for approval. This step is crucial to ensure the continuity of the sustainable development of tourism and the blue economy, reinforcing the commitment to boost economic growth and resilience in strategic areas of the country.

The meeting, chaired by the Coordinator of the Special Projects Management Unit, Nuno Gomes, was attended by the Special Management Unit team and the National Planning Directorate, as well as representatives of the entities that make up this technical committee.

The Technical Committee plays a crucial role as the technical support body for the Special Projects Management Unit, which, among its duties, has the task of ensuring efficient coordination between the DNP, the UGPE and the project beneficiaries. This includes providing support and facilitating the execution of activities, with a focus on meeting the established objectives and targets.

This meeting represented another important step in the journey towards resilient tourism and a sustainable blue economy in Cape Verde, demonstrating the ongoing commitment to economic growth and the well-being of the population.
