The opening ceremony that took place this morning was presided over by the Minister of Family, Inclusion, and Social Development, Fernando Elísio Freire, who stated that this is a structuring project and very important for the Government’s goal, which is eliminate extreme poverty and reduce absolute poverty, considering a program of productive inclusion, which includes people through economic activities allowing them to have access to a profession, providing income so that they can live in a dignified way and have the capacity to develop a normal life.
“These productive inclusion projects in this phase encompass about 2.000 (two thousand) families living in extreme poverty in nine municipalities in the country, namely Porto Novo, Ribeira Grande de Santo Antão, São Vicente, São Filipe, Praia, São Salvador do Mundo, Santa Catarina, Calheta de São Miguel, and Santa Cruz. However, our aim is that from 2022 onwards we will expand to the 22 municipalities in the country, reaching 4,500 (four thousand and five hundred) families benefiting from the RSI, with the prospect of reaching 5 (five thousand) families,” said Fernando Elísio Freire.
The ceremony was also attended by the Coordinator of the Special Projects Management Unit, the Mayors of Santa Catarina, and São Lourenço dos Órgãos, a representative of the World Bank, and the Secretary of State for Social Inclusion.
