Last January 14, in São Jorge dos Órgãos, interior of Santiago, the Tourism Operational Program was officially launched. This is a planning instrument that includes multiple projects aimed at materializing the Government’s vision for the sector.
In the occasion, the Coordinator of the Special Projects Management Unit, Eng. Nuno Gomes, made a brief presentation about the Competitiveness Project for Tourism Development.
The Coordinator pointed out that this project, which is valid for a total of 5 years, has the objective of promoting a competitive and diversified tourism based on a new growth phase, including in the country. This project was financed by the World Bank in the total amount of US$ 5,000,000 and ends next January 31st.
According to Nuno Gomes, during the life of the project, approximately one hundred contracts were signed, in which each contract represents an activity of this project.
The launching ceremony was chaired by His Excellency, the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, and included interventions from the Minister of Tourism and Transport and the World Bank.
