The Mission to Support the Implementation and Preparation of Additional Financing for the Renewable Energy and Improved Energy Efficiency in Public Services Project (REIUP) began on Monday (4) and will run until March 8.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy, Alexandre Monteiro, and the Secretary of State for Finance, Alcindo Mota, met with the World Bank (WB) team this morning to discuss and align crucial aspects related to the preparation of the additional REIUP financing, as well as progress in the implementation of the Action Plan for the institutional reform and restructuring of the energy sector.

In addition, the mission aims to take stock of technical assistance activities to strengthen the Multisectoral Regulatory Agency for the Public Economy (ARME) and the planning department of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, identifying capacity building needs, especially of the newly created institutions, and assessing the state of acquisition of REIUP investments for the energy transition.

During this week, the WB representatives, led by Ms. Raluca Golumbeanu, Senior Energy Specialist and Task Team Leader, will be accompanied by the UGPE Coordinator, Nuno Gomes, and the REIUP Project Manager, Daniel Santos.

Throughout the mission, meetings are scheduled with various institutions, including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy, ELECTRA and ARME, with the aim of analyzing crucial details related to the implementation of the project and monitoring the progress of activities.
