As part of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Project, funded by the World Bank, the Dr. Batista de Sousa Hospital (HBS) recently acquired a computed tomography (CT) scanner, equipped with a contrast injection pump that increases the accuracy and quality of the exams.
\nComputed tomography is a crucial tool in modern medicine, indispensable for the rapid and accurate diagnosis of complex conditions.
\nThe arrival of this new equipment marks significant progress for healthcare in S\u00e3o Vicente, enabling a faster response to critical cases and reducing the need for evacuations to the Dr. Agostinho Neto University Hospital (HUAN), which previously generated high costs and additional risks for patients. This advance strengthens diagnostic capacity in the region, ensuring more accessible, safe and quality care for the population of Barlavento.
\nThis investment reflects the Cape Verde Government’s commitment to strengthening the health system, especially in essential diagnostic areas.
\nIn addition to this acquisition, the Cape Verdean government, through the Ministry of Health in partnership with the World Bank, will soon be starting the process of acquiring more medical and hospital equipment, including the purchase of an MRI for the Agostinho Neto University Hospital.<\/p>\n
