The presentation of the Detailed Safeguarding Plan took place on June 26, in the Old Town Historic Center, during the ceremony marking the 15th anniversary of its elevation to World Heritage status.<\/p>\n

The event was presided over by the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abra\u00e3o Vicente.<\/p>\n
Valued at 17,000 escudos and with a duration of 24 months, the Detailed Plan for the Safeguarding of the Old Town aims to be a comprehensive tool designed to preserve and enrich the historical value of the Old Town’s historic center, recognized as a World Heritage Site.<\/p>\n

The plan proposes the protection of historic and heritage buildings, as well as urban and landscape designs.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
This study, conceived as part of the 2019-2022 Management Plan, is funded by the government as part of the Resilient Tourism and Development of the Blue Economy Project, implemented by the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE).<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The document, which will subsequently be put out to public consultation for 30 socialized days, has a transversal vision, providing guidelines on how to preserve and promote the historic site, guaranteeing the maintenance of its World Heritage title.<\/p>\n
