Following the introductory mission carried out in November 2021, a World Bank team is in Cape Verde to prepare the negotiation of the “Resilient Tourism Development and Blue Economy Project”.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The project aims to increase the geographic scope and depth of tourism’s contribution to the economy in a sustainable manner, thereby involving and benefiting a wide range of beneficiaries across civil society, private and public sectors in Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The project’s development objective is to support a more diversified tourism offer and greater participation of SMEs in tourism-related value chains in targeted destinations, and to primarily support the government’s objective of promoting sustainable tourism and natural resource conservation with benefits to local communities through a series of integrated and cross-sectoral interventions.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The project proposes to develop a new integrated development model that addresses the constraints to unlocking tourism and blue economy potential in selected destinations.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The focus of this project centers on developing integrated and resilient tourism and blue economy infrastructure worth $22.32 million and improving inclusive and sustainable tourism management in the blue economy worth $12.20 million.<\/p>\n
