Taking stock of the first year of expansion of the Productive Inclusion Program to the 22 municipalities under the Human Capital Project; sharing the experiences of NGOs and training bodies and lessons learned; as well as collecting proposals/suggestions for consolidating the expansion of PI, was the basis for the National Workshop that took place on Wednesday, September 26, in the city of Praia.
Aiming to contribute to consolidating the process of expanding the Social and Productive Inclusion Program to the 22 municipalities, the national workshop focused on sharing the experience of local entities and partners who took part in the process of selecting and implementing capacity-building and training actions, as well as following up, monitoring beneficiaries and supporting activities for Productive Inclusion in the 18 municipalities.
The opening session was chaired by the Minister of State, Family, Inclusion and Social Developmentt, Fernando Elísio Freire, in the presence of the Coordinator of the UGPE, Nuno Gomes, the representative of the World Bank Group in Cape Verde, Laura Bermeo, and the President of the National Association of Cape Verde Municipalities, Herminio Fernandes.
During the worshshop, topics were discussed in two panels relating to (i) the process of identifying and selecting beneficiaries, capacity building/training of beneficiaries: planning, operationalization and points for improvement and (ii) follow-up/monitoring of beneficiaries: challenges, lessons learned and suggestions.
It should be noted that the workshop was actively attended by technical representatives from local councils, training bodies, NGOs and other sectors, highlighting the importance of the Productive Inclusion Program as an essential tool for combating extreme poverty and promoting social inclusion in Cape Verde.
At the end of the workshop, all the participants expressed their satisfaction with the sharing, exchange of experience, lessons learned and contributions aimed at consolidating the process of expanding the Social and Productive Inclusion Program to the 22 municipalities, reaffirming their commitment to an increasingly fairer, more inclusive and more prosperous Cape Verde.
