Special Projects Management Unit attends African Caucus 2023 Forum – Sal Island Cape Verde

The meeting chaired by Cabo Verde, in the person of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Business Development and Minister of Digital Economy of Cabo Verde, Olavo Correia, took place on the island of Sal from July 6 to 8, 2023.

The sessions were attended by the Coordinator of the UGPE, Nuno Gomes, as well as Finance Ministers, and African Governors of Central Banks, with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG).

It should be noted that the conclusions of this meeting will be presented during the Annual Assembly of the World Bank and the IMF, which will take place from October 6 to 15 this year in Marrakech, in the Kingdom of Morocco.

The choice of Cape Verde was decided at a technical meeting of the IMF and the World Bank for the preparation of the African Constituency Meeting (African Caucus Preparation), on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings held last May.

Established in 1963, the Caucus, which takes place every 50 years, has as its main objective to provide the African governors of the WBG and the IMF with a mechanism for coordination and harmonization of their actions in order to safeguard the interests of member countries with the Bretton Woods institutions.
