UGPE participates in the meeting to present the project for the rehabilitation and enhancement of Tarrafal Quay and the surrounding area

The Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) was represented by environmental and social specialists Neiva Centeio and Ermelinda Tavares Lima at the meeting to present the study for the Rehabilitation and Enhancement of Tarrafal Quay and the surrounding area on July 25.

After the consultation phase with the various stakeholders, including fishermen, fishmongers, water sports staff, the various tour operators and the various local and government institutions with responsibilities in this area, the Consortium responsible for drawing up the technical project, made up of the companies SISTEMA ENGENHARIA E ARQUITETURA, GESPLAN AND WET, presented the three alternatives proposed as a preliminary project for the Rehabilitation and Enhancement of Tarrafal Quay and the surrounding area, always integrating the principles of the blue economy and promoting the link between tourism, coastal fishing and cultural heritage.

This study was financed by the World Bank as part of the Resilient Tourism and Development of the Blue Economy in Cape Verde Project and implemented by the Cape Verdean Government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Transport and the Ministry of the Sea, together with the Municipality of Tarrafal de Santiago.
