On Thursday, April 4, the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) took part in the launch of the Santiago Land Registry, represented by Coordinator Nuno Gomes and the Project Manager for Harmonization and Improvement of Statistics in West Africa, José Moniz Fernandes.
The ceremony took place in the municipality of Santa Cruz, at the Bulimundo Auditorium, Sema Lopi Cultural Center and was presided over by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Business Development, Olavo Correia, and was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Housing, Eunice Silva and the Minister of Justice, Joana Rosa.
The launch took place as part of the preparations for the start of the land registry operation on the island of Santiago, which began in March, and in continuity with the land registry on the islands of Boa Vista, Sal, São Vicente and Maio.
The land registry project on Santiago is budgeted at 400,000 escudos and is part of the #harmonizationproject to improve statistics in West Africa, financed by the #WorldBank.
It should be noted that the #CadastroPredial is an administrative register that includes a set of data, including graphic representations and physical and economic information, which characterizes and identifies the existing buildings in the national territory.
Its aim is to ensure greater legal certainty in the trade of real estate, to establish a database for the National Cadastre that enables effective management of the territory and to make cadastral information available to public and private entities in the exercise of their powers and duties.
