As part of the mission to prepare the Results-Based Program “Building Opportunities and Achieving Results in Employment” (#CORRE), held from January 26 to 30, the UGPE team, led by coordinator Nuno Gomes, met on Friday, January 30, to discuss issues related to the program’s Investment Project Financing Component (#IPF), which will be implemented by UGPE.
During the meeting, the planned activities, main objectives, and interventions were analyzed, as well as the modalities for implementing the Procurement Strategy, the Stakeholder Engagement Plan, and the Environmental and Social Commitments Plan, which are essential for the implementation of this component.
The CORRE Program is an initiative of the Government of Cape Verde, in partnership with the World Bank, with the aim of increasing employability and strengthening vocational training for young people between the ages of 15 and 35. The program is part of the regional initiative SIRA – Skills for Innovation, Resilience, and Aspiration, in West and Central Africa, aimed at combating youth unemployment, with a special focus on NEETs (young people who are not in education, employment, or training).
The program promotes the strengthening of fundamental skills, the improvement of basic learning, and the creation of opportunities for entry into the labor market, benefiting primary and secondary school students, as well as young people in situations of greater social and economic vulnerability.
With Cape Verde’s participation as one of the first countries in the region to join the #SIRA initiative, the country reaffirms its commitment to skills development and the promotion of youth employment.
