Construction workers from the Eugénio Lima and Ponta D’Água neighborhoods took part in training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), health and safety at work, as part of the Habitat Regeneration Program.
The training, held on September 30 and October 1, covered 70 workers involved in rehabilitating homes for vulnerable families.
The action, promoted by the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) in partnership with the Cape Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG), had the main objective of raising participants’ awareness of issues such as violence against children, abuse, exploitation, sexual harassment, and the Code of Conduct.
In addition, occupational health and safety issues and the functioning of the Complaints Management Mechanism were addressed, providing workers with clear information on how to file complaints in a safe and accessible manner.
This initiative is part of the Environmental and Social Safeguards of UGPE projects funded by the World Bank. The training was attended by UGPE’s Environmental and Social Specialist, Larissa Varela, Social Specialist, Ermelinda Lima, and ICIEG Psychologist, Katia Marques.
