The Ribeira das Patas Health Center, in the municipality of Porto Novo, was inaugurated on Saturday, the 24th, in a ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva during his visit to the island of Santo Antão.
The infrastructure, financed by the World Bank in the amount of 90 million escudos, under the Cape Verde Covid-19 Emergency Response Project, is considered by the Government to be a state-of-the-art health center. The facility will serve not only the population of Ribeira das Patas, but also the communities of Alto Mira, Lajedos, Jorge Luís, Ribeira da Cruz, Chã de Norte, and Martiene.
The ceremony was also attended by the Coordinator of the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE), Nuno Gomes, and the Project Manager, Bruno dos Santos.
With this new center, Ribeira das Patas now has more accessible, humane, and quality health services, strengthening the health system in Santo Antão. The infrastructure has qualified professionals, a new ambulance, and emergency response capabilities, ensuring close care for local communities.
