As part of the mission to support the implementation of the Cabo Verde COVID-19 Emergency Response Project and the Health Security Program in Western and Central Africa, the World Bank (WB) team held working meetings to assess the progress of the initiatives and align the next steps.
On March 25 and 26, the program included meetings with government entities, including a meeting with the National Planning Directorate. During the session, the mission’s objectives were presented, the current state of implementation of project activities was analyzed and future prospects were discussed. The meeting made it possible to strengthen coordination between the parties involved and align strategies for more effective implementation.
The mission also met with the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) to discuss key aspects of the projects, including procurement, social and environmental safeguards, financial management, as well as monitoring and evaluation of ongoing actions.
In addition to the institutional meetings, field visits were made to the interior of Santiago, including an inspection of the construction work on the Achada Monte Health Center, in the municipality of São Miguel, and to the site intended for the construction of the Medicines and Vaccines Depot.
