Human Capital Project in Cape Verde analyzed during Mid-Term Supervision and Evaluation Mission

The Mid-term Supervision and Evaluation Mission of the Human Capital Project in Cape Verde kicked off today, October 7, with a meeting between the World Bank team, the UGPE and the National Planning Director, Gilson Pina.

The mission, which runs from October 7 to 11, aims to identify any adjustments needed to overcome implementation challenges and ensure that development objectives are met.

The Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) was represented by the Coordinator, Nuno Gomes, and the Human Capital Project manager, Clarisse Silva.

On the occasion, the Coordinator of the UGPE pointed out that the team will work closely with the sectors where there are risks in meeting targets, looking for solutions to overcome these challenges and ensure the continuous progress of activities. Small adjustments that have already been made have had a positive effect, speeding up progress on the actions planned.

On the other hand, the World Bank team pointed out during the discussions that there had been significant progress in terms of disbursements and acceleration in the implementation of activities that had been delayed. This progress was considered a positive point, with the Bank team expressing satisfaction at the effective coordination between all the parties involved, which has contributed to the successful implementation of the project.

It should be noted that this mission was preceded by technical visits to the islands of São Vicente, Boa Vista and Sal, in order to identify possible childcare strengthening activities to be considered for potential Additional Financing, involving resources from the World Bank and the Early Learning Partnership Trust Fund.

Meetings are also scheduled with key government partners, covering areas such as education, vocational training, social protection and housing rehabilitation, to ensure that the project continues to progress as planned.
