World Bank Mission Meets with UGPE for Updated Project Assessment

On its first day of work, the Mission led by Senior Energy Specialist, Raluca Golumbeanu, met with the team from the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) to assess the progress of the Renewable Energy and Improved Utilities Performance Project (REIUP).

The UGPE was represented by the project manager, Daniel Santos, specialists from the Environmental and Social and Monitoring and Evaluation areas, as well as the Procurement department.

During the meeting, crucial details relating to the implementation of the project were discussed, with an emphasis on the fiduciary management of projects with external funding. The UGPE team shared valuable insights into the challenges faced and the progress made so far.

The mission, scheduled to continue until the 17th of this month, will include a series of strategic meetings. Of particular note is the scheduled meeting with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy, Alexandre Dias, who will provide a crucial perspective on the integration of the project into broader government goals.

The REIUP Project aims not only to boost the use of renewable energies, but also to improve the performance of public services.
