Delivery of Esthetics and Pastry Kits to beneficiaries of the Social Inclusion Project

The ceremony of delivery of the Kits of Esthetics and Pastry took place under the Social Inclusion Project, activities of the Productive Inclusion component, aiming to strengthen the potential of families receiving Social Inclusion Income, to develop their income-generating activities, in a perspective of self-sustenance and improvement of their living conditions.

This activity, which took place at the headquarters of Citihabitat in Ponta d’Água, the NGO responsible for implementing productive inclusion activities, took place on Monday, January 31st, and was chaired by the Minister of Family, Inclusion and Social Development, Fernando Elísio Freire, in the presence of representatives from the City Council of Praia, the Special Project Management Unit – UGPE, and Citihabitat.

In his speech, the minister said that the Government is following a path that will allow the eradication of extreme poverty and the reduction of absolute poverty, through assertive public policies. The minister assured that starting in April the Productive Inclusion activities will be extended to 22 municipalities in the country under the Human Capital Project, funded by the World Bank.

It is recalled that throughout the country two thousand families in 9 municipalities (Santa Catarina de Santiago, São Salvador do Mundo, Calheta de São Miguel, Santa Cruz, Praia, São Filipe do Fogo, São Vicente, Ribeira Grande de Santo Antão and Porto Novo), benefit from activities of the Productive Inclusion component, including various training courses in small business management and entrepreneurship, financial education, social skills, etc., as a way to better prepare beneficiaries for their income-generating activities. With the enlargement to all the country’s municipalities it is expected to increase from two thousand to five thousand beneficiary families.

On the occasion, representing UGPE, the Social Inclusion Project Manager, Ermelinda Lima, highlighted the important role of NGOs in the communities in the performance of daily work with the families, which in her opinion helps the Ministry of Family, Inclusion and Social Development in the implementation of this component of the project on the ground. Ermelinda Lima took the opportunity to recall that after the delivery of the business strengthening kits, the teams of technicians from the NGOs and the Municipality will monitor the activities with the beneficiaries to verify in loco the impact of the measure in their lives.

It should be noted that during the delivery ceremony of the business strengthening kits 24 certificates were delivered to the beneficiaries who participated in the Aesthetics and Cooking/Pastry training courses.
