On Friday morning, October 4, the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) received a delegation made up of representatives from Niger, Liberia and Guinea Conakry, countries that are part of the World Bank’s Health Security Program. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the development projects implemented by the UGPE, share experiences and discuss the challenges faced in implementing projects financed by international organizations.
The delegation is in Cape Verde as part of the First Technical Meeting of the Health Security Program for West and Central Africa (HeSP), held from October 1st to 3rd in Praia.
Welcomed by the UGPE Coordinator, Nuno Gomes, the delegation members were given a guided tour of the UGPE facilities, followed by a meeting. Present were the Finance Director, José Andrade, the procurement officer, Ailine Fernandes, and the environmental and social specialist, Larissa Varela.
During the meeting, an overview of the main projects under UGPE management was presented, and there was also an exchange of experiences and discussion about the challenges in implementing public health projects.
The delegation considered this an excellent opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the UGPE’s work and Cape Verde’s role in implementing projects funded by international organizations.
