On the afternoon of Friday, March 31, 2023, was held in the meeting room of the Special Projects Management Unit, the opening of the proposals of the Tender: “Contract for the improvement and rehabilitation of the road EN1-SL-01, Espargos – Santa Maria (Sal Island – Cape Verde).
This is an important infrastructure of the island of Sal, which connects the two main cities of the island (Santa Maria and Espargos) and is also the access road to the airport and the ZDTI of Murdeira and Algodoeiro. This national road, being the main connection artery on the island, is a road with strong impact on the development of tourism activities on the island and contributes strongly to the development of the local and national economy.
This competition is part of the implementation of the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project in Cape Verde, which aims to increase diversity and resilience in the tourism offer and the participation of SMEs in tourism-related value chains in specific destinations.
For this tender, five proposals, from national and international companies, in individual name and/or in Consortium, have entered within the stipulated deadline, and an evaluation commission appointed for this purpose, will evaluate the proposals during the month of April.
It is expected that the contract will be signed with the Firm/Consortium best ranked in the competition during the month of May and the construction work will start during the first half of 2023.
