Achada Monte Health Center will be a reality in 10 months

The consignment ceremony for the construction of the Achada Monte Health Center, in Calheta de São Miguel, on Santiago Island, took place on Wednesday, July 24.

The event was attended by various authorities and representatives, including the Coordinator of the Special Projects Management Unit, Nuno Gomes, the Mayor of São Miguel, Herménio Fernandes, the Director of the Santiago Norte Health Region, João Batista, the São Miguel Health Delegate, councillors, as well as representatives of the contractor and the inspection team.

In his speech, the Mayor of São Miguel, Herménio Fernandes, stressed that this work is an important step for the development of the village of Achada Monte. Herménio Fernandes mentioned that the project was conceived by the government, which mobilized the necessary resources to build the center in order to improve access to health care for the local population. When the consignment is made in 10 months’ time, “we will proudly celebrate this achievement, particularly the people of Achada Monte, who deserve this work,” said Fernandes.

For his part, the Director of the Santiago Norte Health Region, João Batista, representing the Ministry of Health, expressed his satisfaction with the construction of yet another health center in the region. Batista stressed that this modern infrastructure will provide a quality service and offer comfort to users, who will feel welcome, in other words a concept aimed at serving the local population.
