World Bank promotes training in “Procurement” to improve skills of project managers and beneficiaries in this area

The World Bank held this Tuesday, March 8, in Praia, a training seminar on “Procurement” aimed at managers and beneficiaries of projects managed by the Special Projects Management Unit and financed by the Bank.

On the occasion, the Coordinator of the Special Projects Management Unit, Nuno Gomes, underlined that project management “is shared management”, and UGPE as a facilitator to ensure the best project management requested this training from the bank in order to strengthen the trainees’ skills in the area of “Procurement”.

“This is an opportunity for the sharing of ideas and interaction between the Bank, UGPE, and the beneficiaries, and we will all be in sync, thus promoting better efficiency in project implementation,” said Nuno Gomes.

The training was given by Senior Procurement Specialist and Coordinator of the World Bank Group Procurement Center, Laurent Medhi Brito, who is in the country on a mission to review the financial management of projects and consequently promote a better approach to project management and implementation.

It should be recalled that UGPE is a specialized service that deals with the fiduciary management of externally funded projects, namely the financial management and procurement management of strategic projects or those with a significant impact on the pursuit of the attributions pursued by the Ministry of Finance.
