Signing of a tripartite protocol to strengthen territorial cohesion in Cape Verde

The Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE), the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion (MCT) and the National Statistics Institute (INE) signed a tripartite protocol to establish the conditions for financing the “Statistical Agenda for Territorial Cohesion” initiative, as part of the Harmonization and Improvement of Statistics in West Africa Project (HISWA).

The protocol was initialed by the Coordinator of the UGPE, Nuno Gomes, the Director General of Territorial Cohesion Policy, Gerson Sousa and the President of INE, João Cardoso.

The main objective of this protocol is to provide government entities and civil society organizations with up-to-date statistical data that will allow them to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the projects, programs and actions developed as part of the implementation of the National Territorial Cohesion Policy.

On the sidelines of this protocol, Nuno Gomes pointed out that the UGPE is implementing other initiatives as part of the HISWA project, such as, for example, the Mapping of the Diaspora and the Integrated Municipal Management System, which are integrated into the protocol just signed.

The UGPE Coordinator added that “as the unit responsible for managing projects funded by the World Bank, we are fully available to support the implementation of statistics and other activities within our scope. Our aim is to finance and monitor initiatives that benefit the country, in line with the government’s program for this legislature.”
