On the afternoon of Friday, November 28, the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) welcomed the Senior Director of UN-Habitat for West Africa, Mathias Spaliviero, for a meeting dedicated to analyzing the national context and identifying opportunities for collaboration that would strengthen the commitment of financiers in supporting the country, particularly in the areas of spatial planning, housing, and the development of safe and resilient infrastructure.
The delegation was received by the UGPE Coordinator, Nuno Gomes, who presented the initiatives currently underway, including projects for the redevelopment of resilient infrastructure and housing rehabilitation actions, integrated into structural programs in the areas of Tourism, Human Capital, Energy, and Health. The Coordinator also expressed UGPE’s full willingness to deepen cooperation with UN-Habitat, highlighting the importance of exchanging technical expertise between teams.
During the meeting, Mathias Spaliviero, accompanied by Financial Analyst Alberto Silva, shared UN-Habitat’s recent experience in Senegal and other West African countries, emphasizing the importance of rigorous territorial diagnostics to guide future investment decisions.
The meeting is part of the agenda of UN-Habitat’s official mission to Cape Verde, which runs from November 27 to December 3.
During his trip, the official will participate in strategic meetings with the government, funding partners, and various relevant entities, with the aim of reporting and consolidating the main conclusions of the recent technical mission to the country.
