The mission to support the implementation of the Human Capital Project and the Program for Results (PforR) “Building Opportunities and Achieving Results in Employment” (CORRE), carried out from September 15 to 19, 2025, ends today (19) on a positive note, after five days of intensive technical work and meetings with key government partners.
The technical team concluded the mission with a debriefing with the DNP, presenting the main conclusions and recommendations reached throughout the week. The supervision mission was carried out in close collaboration with the Ministries of Education, Investment Promotion and Business Development, Family, Inclusion and Social Development, and Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, and Housing.
During the mission, the team focused on three main fronts: assessing the progress of the Human Capital Project and defining measures to accelerate its implementation; reviewing fiduciary aspects; and discussing the design of the new CORRE Program, including strategic objectives, main interventions, implementation modalities, institutional arrangements, and fiduciary, environmental, and social risk management.
The mission was co-led by Claudia Lopez (Project Team Leader and Education Specialist) and Laura Bermeo (Co-Leader and Social Protection Specialist), with the collaboration of national and international experts, both in person and remotely.
Throughout the week, several technical meetings were held with key government partners in the areas of education, vocational training, social protection, and housing rehabilitation. A field visit was also made to some childcare centers that will be improved under the additional funding for the Human Capital Project. The final meeting with the DNP marked the end of the mission, reinforcing the Cape Verdean government’s commitment to the human capital development agenda and youth employability.
