UGPE, INE and ANAS sign Tripartite Memorandum for the Sustainable Management of Electronic Waste in Cape Verde

As part of the Technology Park Phase II Project, a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding on the Sustainable Management of Electrical and Electronic Waste (E-Waste) was signed today, April 7, between the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE), the National Statistics Institute (INE) and the National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANAS).

The signing ceremony was attended by UGPE’s Coordinator, Nuno Gomes, ANAS’s Chairman of the Board, Marize Gominho, and INE’s Chairman of the Board, João Cardoso.

Through this commitment, the three institutions are strengthening inter-institutional cooperation with a view to implementing joint actions that contribute to mitigating the environmental impacts of E-Waste, while encouraging innovative solutions for the reuse, recycling and recovery of end-of-life electronic equipment.

During the ceremony, the representatives of the entities involved highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership in tackling the challenges related to the increase in electronic waste, providing an integrated, sustainable approach in line with international best practices and current environmental and social guidelines.

In addition to institutional strengthening, this partnership represents a call for collective action in favor of more responsible e-waste management in Cape Verde, contributing to the protection of the environment and the well-being of people.
