From September 16 to 20, 2024, another mission to support the implementation of the Digital Cape Verde Project (IDA Credit No. 6792-CV; P171099) will take place in Praia. The mission brings together the World Bank team with representatives from the Government of Cape Verde, in collaboration with the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) and the National Planning Directorate (DNP).
Led by World Bank experts in the areas of digital development, the mission’s main objectives are: (i) to review the progress of the project’s implementation towards the development goal (PDO); (ii) to support the resolution of constraints and delays in key activities; and (iii) to discuss the status of additional funding and the possibility of extending the project.
During the planned meetings, crucial components of the project will be analyzed, such as the development of digital skills, the quality of the internet infrastructure, the functioning of the cybersecurity hub and the transition of the Weblabs.
On the first day of the mission, a meeting was held with the National Planning Director, Gilson Pina, to align strategic priorities and prepare for potential additional funding, with a focus on the digital economy. At the end of the mission, an Aide-Mémoire will be drawn up, containing the main results of the discussions, with the aim of strengthening the implementation of the Digital Cape Verde Project.
