As part of the Project to Improve Connectivity and Urban Infrastructure, a team from Praia traveled to the interior of the island of Santiago on June 10 for a working visit to the towns of Rincão in Santa Catarina and Achada Igreja in the municipality of São Salvador do Mundo.
The purpose of these visits was to gather information that will support urban regeneration projects in these two areas.
These urban regeneration projects are part of a project funded by the World Bank, focusing on improving connectivity and urban infrastructure, which will bring more social progress and economic development to the two areas.
The team, which included technicians from the Special Projects Management Unit and the Cape Verde Roads Institute, was accompanied during the visit by the consultancy company responsible for these activities. In Santa Catarina, the Mayor, Jassira Monteiro, accompanied the visit, and in São Salvador do Mundo, the City Council’s Councillor for Urbanism, Infrastructures and Sanitation, Jair Correia, and the Director of Infrastructures, António Lubrano, were present.
