The World Bank team concludes another mission in Cabo Verde, this time for the evaluation and preparation of the Human Capital Project.
The main goal of this project is to improve access to basic services and relevant training for the labor market in Cabo Verde.
The mission was focused on discussions about project preparation, where the main discussions focused on: costing of project components and activities; results indicators and targets; fiduciary arrangements; safeguard documents; and institutional arrangements.
The project is funded with €26 million and comprises three major components, namely:
– reform education to better prepare young people in school for future employment;
– improve access to labor market-relevant vocational training for young people and women;
– improve access to basic services for poor and vulnerable youth and women.
The negotiations have already been scheduled for February 25 of this year. After the negotiations, the Project will be presented to the World Bank Board between the end of March and the beginning of April, for its approval and later signature with the Cabo Verdean Government.
The mission co-lead by Ms. Emily Gardner, met with the Ministry of Education, and the Vocational Training Fund, to finalize the discussions on project preparation and conclude the project evaluation, Ministry of Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, and Housing, the Directorate of Employment, the Directorate of Planning, and the Special Projects Management Unit of the Ministry of Finance.
