As part of the Mission to Support the Implementation of the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project (RTBED), the World Bank team met with members of the government on Thursday, June 5, 2025, for a debriefing and joint analysis of ongoing activities.
Present were the Minister for Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Housing, Vítor Coutinho, the Minister for Tourism and Transport, José Luís Sá Nogueira, the UGPE Coordinator, Nuno Gomes, and the World Bank representative, Indira Campos.
During the meeting, the mission’s technical team highlighted the progress made in implementing the project, underlining the joint efforts of the institutions involved. However, persistent challenges were also identified in terms of inter-ministerial coordination, which require greater alignment and coordination between the different sectors.
The meeting focused particularly on maritime and tourist infrastructures, which were identified as priority areas requiring adjustments in line with the priorities defined by the government. The need to improve communication mechanisms between ministries and to promote greater institutional engagement to ensure more effective implementation of the project was also reinforced.
