Mission reinforces implementation of the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project

From June 2 to 6, 2025, a technical support mission promoted by the World Bank took place in Cape Verde, with the aim of strengthening the implementation of the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project (RTBED). The mission marks a strategic moment in the consolidation of joint efforts between the Government of Cape Verde and the World Bank, with a view to promoting a more sustainable, resilient tourism sector aligned with the principles of the blue economy.

During the mission, the World Bank technical team carried out field visits and sectoral technical meetings on the islands of Santiago, Sal, São Vicente and Santo Antão, with the aim of assessing the progress of the activities planned for 2025 and promoting joint solutions to the challenges identified.

The mission’s agenda included monitoring the implementation of the work plan, analyzing opportunities for reallocating funds, integrating new technicians funded by the project, as well as updating information on environmental and social safeguards.

High-level meetings were also held with government entities, namely the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Transport and Tourism, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of the Sea, and the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries.
