On November 14 and 15, 2024, the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) will host a face-to-face, practical training course on the STEP (Systematic Tracking of Exchanges in Procurement) system, including the Contract Management module. This training aims to strengthen participants’ technical skills in the use of STEP, a system that facilitates the management and tracking of procurement processes, promoting greater transparency and efficiency in operations.
The training begins with an introduction to the basics of the STEP system, covering the fundamentals and main features of the platform. At this stage, the Contract Management module is also presented, focusing on STEP’s specific functionalities for contract management.
After this theoretical introduction, participants have a practical session with access to the STEP system, where they can review and discuss the specific challenges faced by their respective institutions. As for the Contract Management module, participants train in the use of this tool to improve their skills in effective contract management.
Participating in this training are project managers, procurement specialists and procurement assistants from UGPE, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Housing (MIHOT) and Infraestruturas de Cabo Verde (ICV). It is taught by lead trainer Nikolai Sviedrys, STEP coordinator at the World Bank, who leads the instruction and guides the practical activities, ensuring that all participants are prepared to apply the knowledge acquired in their day-to-day work.
To conclude, the training includes a summary of the content covered and the preparation of a customized work plan for each institution, with the aim of supporting the practical implementation of the knowledge acquired.
